Who We Are

Bug A Bug Pest Elimination was established in January 2010—born from a dream, a leap of faith, and over 20 years of experience in the pest control industry. Jose, the founder, decided to take the bold step of starting his own business as a one-man operation.

So, how did the name come about—Bug A Bug Pest Elimination?

At first, it might sound like a riddle. But after saying it once or twice, it rolls off the tongue with a fun, playful rhythm. The name itself has a story: After struggling to come up with the right name, Jose asked around—friends, customers, anyone who might have an idea. One day, while driving through a gated community, he asked the security guard on duty if he had any suggestions. The guard replied, “What about Bug A Bug? You’re bugging the bugs, aren’t you?” Jose couldn’t stop thinking about it—and just like that, Bug A Bug Pest Elimination was born.

From the beginning, it has been and remains a family-run business. In the early days, Jose would handle everything himself, sometimes working perimeter treatments at night with just a flashlight strapped to his hat.

Bug A Bug has weathered time, family changes, and life’s ups and downs—both joyful and difficult. Jose lost his first wife, Barbie, to kidney disease, even after donating a kidney in hopes of saving her. It was a heartbreaking time—his children were still teenagers. Yet, amid that grief, the comfort and loyalty of his customers became a true source of support. Some would sit with him after service calls over a cup of coffee, talking about life. Many of those clients are still with us today, 15+ years later.

As life moved forward, healing came. Jose remarried, the kids grew up, and now there are three beautiful granddaughters—some who are fascinated by bugs, some by fishing, and some still figuring it out. Through marriage, Jose also gained a daughter—someone he loves as his own. And just maybe, he’s now waiting (patiently!) for his grandsons to arrive one day through her.

Our customers? Many have been with us through it all. We’ve served their homes, their children’s homes, and now even their grandchildren’s. We’ve witnessed milestones—marriages, births, losses—and shared in the everyday rhythms of life.

Yes, we are a pest control company—but more than that, we’re part of a community. A community of people with dreams, challenges, laughter, grief, peace, and above all—hope. That’s what defines us as a family business. We may not be the biggest or the oldest, but we are part of our customers’ stories—and they are a part of ours.

As for the future? We may not know what’s ahead, but here at Bug A Bug Pest Elimination, doing business as Jose’s Bug A Bug Pest & Termite Elimination, we believe in doing what’s right, trusting God, and growing alongside our team and community.
